“Yes. Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. For example: You’re walking along, minding your own business. You’re looking neither to the left, nor to the right, when all of a sudden you run smack into a pretty face. Woo-woo! You begin to get weak in the knees. Your head’s in a whirl. And then you feel light as a feather, and before you know it, you’re walking on air. And then you know what? You’re knocked for a loop, and you completely lose your head!” – Friend Owl, Bambi

Just because he’s got those big ears, they call him a freak. The laughing stock of the coicus. And when his mother tried to protect him, they threw her into the clink. And on top of that, they made him a clown! Socially he’s washed up! Aw, but what’s the use of talkin’ to you cold-hearted boids? Go ahead! Have your fun! Laugh at him! Kick him now that he’s down! Go on! We don’t care.” – Timothy Q. Mouse, Dumbo

Pinocchio Quotes

Walt Disney: Pinocchio QuotesReleased on February 7, 1940, Pinocchio was Walt Disney’s second Full Length Animated Feature film behind Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. With the success of Snow White, Walt wanted to do a story that would again appeal to a wide range of people and tell a great moral story while maintaining that now familiar Disney flair for entertainment. The plot of the film involves a humble toy maker named Geppetto who carves a wooden puppet he names Pinocchio. One evening, Geppetto wishes upon a star that Pinocchio can be made into a real boy as it has been Geppetto’s lifelong dream to have a child of his own. That same evening, after Geppetto is fast asleep, his house is visited by the blue fairy, who brings Pinocchio to life and tells him he can become a real boy if he proves himself “brave, truthful, and unselfish”.

Though Pinocchio was slow  to reach financial success, the film was heralded as one of Walt Disney’s crowning achievements critically. In fact, the song When You Wish Upon A Star became so popular, the Walt Disney Company later used it as their company anthem. Pinocchio is a great piece of American Animation and over time has been recognized as among the best Walt Disney delivered during his lifetime. Enjoy these quotes from Walt Disney’s animated classic!

“A boy who won’t be good might just as well be made of wood.”

“I’d rather be smart than be an actor.”

“I should’ve listened to you, Jiminy.”

“I can move! I can talk! I can walk!”

“Hi-diddle-dee-dee, an actor’s life for me!”

“When he lies his niose gets big.”

“A lie keeps growing and growing until it’s as clear as the nose on your face.”

“Now, remember, Pinocchio, be a good boy. And always let your conscience be your guide.”

“Pretty, huh? I’ll bet a lot of you folks don’t believe that, about a wish coming true, do you? Well, I didn’t, either. Of course, I’m just a cricket singing my way from hearth to hearth, but let me tell you what made me change my mind.”

“What does an actor want with a conscience, anyway?”

“Go ahead. Make a fool of yourself, and maybe you’ll listen to your conscience.”

“Pinocchio! So this is where I find you? How do you ever expect to be a real boy? Look at yourself, smoking! Playing pool! You’re coming right home with me this minute!”

“Yep, temptations. They’re the wrong things that seem right at the time, but, uh… even though the right things may seem wrong sometimes, or sometimes the wrong things,[chuckles] may be right at the wrong time, or visa versa”

“Good-bye? I may be live bait down there, but I’m with ya!”

“But this Monstro, I’ve heard of him; he’s a whale of a whale!”

“Now, you see, the world is full of temptations.”

” Oh, buck up, son. It could be worse. Be cheerful”

“Pinocchio! There’s something phony about all this. I’ve got to get him outta here.”

“I can’t go back to yesterday because I was a different person then.”

“Begin at the beginning,” the King said, very gravely, “and go on till you come to the end: then stop.”

“Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, or you wouldn’t have come here.”

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.”
“I don’t much care where –”
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go.”

“Who in the world am I? Ah, that’s the great puzzle.”

“You used to be much more…’muchier.’ You’ve lost your muchness.”

Mad Hatter: “Why is a raven like a writing-desk?”
“Have you guessed the riddle yet?”the Hatter said, turning to Alice again.
“No, I give it up,” Alice replied: “What’s the answer?”
“I haven’t the slightest idea,” said the Hatter

“I don’t think…” “then you shouldn’t talk,” said the Hatter.

“If everybody minded their own business, the world would go around a great deal faster than it does.”

“Alice came to a fork in the road. ‘Which road do I take?’ she asked.
‘Where do you want to go?’ responded the Cheshire Cat.
‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered.
‘Then,’ said the Cat, ‘it doesn’t matter.”

“Take some more tea,” the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly.
“I’ve had nothing yet,” Alice replied in an offended tone, “so I can’t take more.”
“You mean you can’t take less,” said the Hatter: “it’s very easy to take more than nothing.”
“Nobody asked your opinion,” said Alice.”

“You would have to be half mad to dream me up.”

“We’re all mad here.”

“I’m afraid I can’t explain myself, sir. Because I am not myself, you see?”

“And what is the use of a book,” thought Alice, “without pictures or conversation?”

“Off with their heads!”

“I wonder if I’ve been changed in the night. Let me think. Was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I’m not the same, the next question is ‘Who in the world am I?’ Ah, that’s the great puzzle!”

“Have I gone mad?”
“I’m afraid so, but let me tell you something, the best people usually are.”

“My dear, here we must run as fast as we can, just to stay in place. And if you wish to go anywhere you must run twice as fast as that.”

“Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
The Cheshire Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.
Alice: I don’t much care where.

Alice: …So long as I get somewhere.
The Cheshire Cat: Oh, you’re sure to do that, if only you walk long enough.”

One day when she was two years old she was playing in a garden, and she plucked another flower and ran with it to her mother. I suppose she must have looked rather delightful, for Mrs Darling put her hand to her heart and cried, ‘Oh, why can’t you remain like this for ever!’ This was all that passed between them on the subject, but henceforth Wendy knew that she must grow up. You always know after you are two. Two is the beginning of the end.”

Peter Pan vs. Captain Hook

“Stars are beautiful, but they may not take an active part in anything, they must just look on for ever. It is a punishment put on them for something they did so long ago that no star now knows what it was. So the older ones have become glassy-eyed and seldom speak (winking is the star language), but the little ones still wonder.”

“She was a lovely lady, with a romantic mind and such a sweet mocking mouth. Her romantic mind was like the tiny boxes, one within the other, that come from the puzzling East, however many you discover there is always one more; and her sweet mocking mouth had one kiss on it that Wendy could never get, though there it was, perfectly conspicuous in the right-hand corner.”
