Pinocchio Quotes

Walt Disney: Pinocchio QuotesReleased on February 7, 1940, Pinocchio was Walt Disney’s second Full Length Animated Feature film behind Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. With the success of Snow White, Walt wanted to do a story that would again appeal to a wide range of people and tell a great moral story while maintaining that now familiar Disney flair for entertainment. The plot of the film involves a humble toy maker named Geppetto who carves a wooden puppet he names Pinocchio. One evening, Geppetto wishes upon a star that Pinocchio can be made into a real boy as it has been Geppetto’s lifelong dream to have a child of his own. That same evening, after Geppetto is fast asleep, his house is visited by the blue fairy, who brings Pinocchio to life and tells him he can become a real boy if he proves himself “brave, truthful, and unselfish”.

Though Pinocchio was slow  to reach financial success, the film was heralded as one of Walt Disney’s crowning achievements critically. In fact, the song When You Wish Upon A Star became so popular, the Walt Disney Company later used it as their company anthem. Pinocchio is a great piece of American Animation and over time has been recognized as among the best Walt Disney delivered during his lifetime. “A boy who won’t be good might just as well be made of wood.”

“I’d rather be smart than be an actor.”

“I should’ve listened to you, Jiminy.”

“I can move! I can talk! I can walk!”

“Hi-diddle-dee-dee, an actor’s life for me!”

“When he lies his niose gets big.”

“A lie keeps growing and growing until it’s as clear as the nose on your face.”

“Now, remember, Pinocchio, be a good boy. And always let your conscience be your guide.”

“Pretty, huh? I’ll bet a lot of you folks don’t believe that, about a wish coming true, do you? Well, I didn’t, either. Of course, I’m just a cricket singing my way from hearth to hearth, but let me tell you what made me change my mind.”

“What does an actor want with a conscience, anyway?”

“Go ahead. Make a fool of yourself, and maybe you’ll listen to your conscience.”

“Pinocchio! So this is where I find you? How do you ever expect to be a real boy? Look at yourself, smoking! Playing pool! You’re coming right home with me this minute!”

“Yep, temptations. They’re the wrong things that seem right at the time, but, uh… even though the right things may seem wrong sometimes, or sometimes the wrong things,[chuckles] may be right at the wrong time, or visa versa”

“Good-bye? I may be live bait down there, but I’m with ya!”

“But this Monstro, I’ve heard of him; he’s a whale of a whale!”

“Now, you see, the world is full of temptations.”

” Oh, buck up, son. It could be worse. Be cheerful”

“Pinocchio! There’s something phony about all this. I’ve got to get him outta here.”
